Naomi Caldwell
Investigative tech journalist
Naomi Caldwell has spent twelve years covering imaging hardware, telecom infrastructure, and the physics behind consumer electronics for trade publications including Imaging Resource, Studio Daily, and the now-archived American Photo lighting desk. Before joining Studio LED Shootout as lead author, she spent four years at a Midwest product-photography studio where she managed a twelve-light COB rig for catalog clients in cosmetics, automotive parts, and food packaging—experience that informs every shootout's buyer-specific verdict.
Her investigative work on LED spectral drift won the Society of Professional Journalists Technology Reporting award in 2024 after she documented how firmware updates silently shifted CRI claims on three major COB lines. She files sourced, on-the-record stories and publishes raw spectrometer CSVs alongside written comparisons so readers can audit her numbers independently.
Naomi holds a master's degree from Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism and consults occasionally for AMPAS-adjacent color-science working groups. She does not accept sponsored rankings; affiliate revenue on retailer links is disclosed per our editorial policy.
